Why We Follow a Top-to-Bottom Cleaning Method

1. Start high, finish low

Dust, crumbs and drips fall. If you wipe the benchtop and then dust the light fittings above it, you have just made more work. Our cleaners start with ceiling fans, light fittings, shelves and the tops of cupboards, then work down through walls and benches to the floor, so nothing lands on a surface that is already finished.

2. Dry tasks first, wet tasks second

Dusting, brushing and vacuuming come before any wiping or mopping. Wet cloths on dusty surfaces turn dust into streaks that need a second pass, so we remove the loose dirt first and then clean what is left.

3. Let products work while we move on

Some build-up, such as soap scum, baked-on grease and stained grout, needs contact time more than muscle. We apply the right product in the bathroom and kitchen first, move to another room, and return once it has had time to loosen the residue.

4. Match the product to the surface

The same spray does not suit every surface. Acidic products such as vinegar can dull natural stone, strong degreasers are not right for every finish, and abrasive pads can scratch glass hobs. We check the surface before we choose the product, and we test in a discreet spot when we are unsure.

5. Finish with a walk-through

Before we leave, the team checks each room from the doorway with the lights on, the same way a property manager or new owner would. Smears, missed corners and sticky patches show up from that angle, and it is easier to fix them while we are still on site.
